It was time to say bye to Macy today. Her spirit and strength of will will be something I’ll always remember. She’ll be greatly missed.

I’ll start with the latter I guess. It’s getting clear to us that Macy is deteriorating quite swiftly now bless her. yesterday she was ok, not great but ok – today well, today she’s not so good. The poor love is having difficulty getting around, her back legs are starting to not quite do what she wants. She does however purr when we pick her up and snuggle in and get comfy. She’s not well though and with sammy at home most of the time now I think it’s hitting her quite hard.

Then there’s zack’s arrival – not long now. Must be hard for sammy to have new life inside kicking her and an old friend trying to get comfy on her lap in her old age. Still, we have most of the nursery ready and we’re both waiting to meet the wee man. It’s an odd time – oddly quiet really, just waiting now.

funny emotional time though – quite difficult really. still, each day will come and go and we’ll do what is best regardless.

Well it seems Macy’s kidney issues are coming to a head. She’s comfortable now but she spent a few nights in the vets last week and she’s on special tablets and food and stuff. We’ll do what we can for her.

One of the four mice has passed away. She was the wee runt so not too unexpected. Her three sisters are fine and playful still tho

Not sure why but last night Teddy fell ill and died. Doesn’t seem to be the same as Misty a while back except in the speed. He’ll be missed, a cute little fella who was loved. We’ll miss him going and grabbing his bag of treats and dragging them to sammy so she could open them up.

Today work went so-so – I could have done better. Still the visit to the midwife went well, heard young Zack again – don’t tire of that. After that Sammy and I did some shopping. By weird circumstance I got a call regarding work during which Sammy wondered off and by the end of the call she had negotiated to adopt a hamster that needed a new home – so we now own Biscuit.

Well we still have 2 cats + 1 wanderer cat whom we’re fostering ;) The four mice are well, as are most of the snails and the wee fishies Teddy’s a bit manic, we think he thinks he’s a cat – it’s most odd as he keeps trying to make friends with pumpkin. quite amusing they are.

Maisy had a little turn last week that resulted in a blood vessel in her right eye going again, so right now she has one red eye and a normal one. She seems ok otherwise, it’s just a symptom of her kidney disease so we’re keeping her on the tablets and she’s picked up bless her.

Mikey’s coming along famously bless him although he does seem to spend the days sleeping under his fleecy blanket – quite cute when he pops out bless him.

Our thoughts are with Sam’s parents though – the border collie, Bessie, isn’t well at the minute – hope she pulls through

Michael (bedroom cat) seems intent on making sure I get woken roughly every four hours meanwhile last night teddy (rabbit) had a “moment”. Not sure what happened but it possibly involved pumpkin (outdoor cat), lots of rugs / carpets in disarray, blanket missing from top of rabbit cage, plenty of noise and teddy hiding behind the sofa much to Macy’s surprise (living room cat). awesome.

the round thing at the front here used to be of a hut, the grass in the foreground used to be the roof. Clearly the mice had other ideas ;)

can't believe it really, our pet rabbit has gone from healthy to not in a few short hours. she was fine last night, and this morning, sammy says she was ok this afternoon and then just flopped - collapsed. Sammy rushed her to the vets who gave her some anti-biotics, did some x-ray's to try to see what was up. she was looking up and was staying in overnight.

we got a call about 10ish saying she'd passed away. odd the regret one has that she was away from her home and family. 4 hours from bouncy and happy. most most odd. not looking forward to cleaning her cage for the last time tbqfh.

end of an era really. still remember the day i went to meet sammy at the pet shop after work and found her holding misty, saying "i want the rabbit...". Seemed like grumpy wee thing would go on for ever...

4 girl mice have now taken up residence in the house - joey, phoebe, ursula (last two are twins) and faival (think thats the spelling). They're very cute and settling in well, been with us about a week but I'm slacking updating this ;)

My last update was a while ago (see here ) but she has now passed away. She’d been having difficulty getting about as her condition grew worse but she never complained and didn’t seem to be in pain last night when I checked on her.

The wee man got old all of a sudden and was having difficulty bless him. He deteriorated over the past 24 hours and tonight we took him to vets, we decided the best thing was if he went to sleep peacefully. The others are still running around mad as ever, though we think Macy got worried about Sammy as she was calling to her as we were trying to get things sorted. A piccy of louie in his tank below.

Well she's been to the vets now. Seems she may have a small cyst in her belly and lymphoma in both her kidneys. It's not operable and it's not worth putting her through the stress of dealing with the cyst, so for now, carry on. We'll keep an eye on her to ensure she's happy and do what we can for her till she's no longer comfy.
