webservices.xml.com: REST and the Real World
webservices.xml.com: REST and the Real World
Quite a nice summary of the some of the security issues around REST vs SOAP and WS-. Doesn’t help me with my current ponderings on the role of an end to end security context in the world of web services. This is where the WS- sort of thinking is heading, the interesting thing is REST doesn’t think about this – if your HTTP infrastructure supports it with something like ClearTrust then REST supports it. What it doesn’t do is repeat the technology and insert lots of interesting XML directly into your message.
Must admit this WS-* stuff looks alot like venders swapping old lamps for polished lamps.

Interested in REST and how people are securing it, doing role based access etc. today. May be a few link posts like this on the subject.

Naxx progress and 1.12
Not actually written much about WoW in this blog of late so thought I’d get some thoughts down while the mood took me.
For those that don’t know I have a level 60 druid in the Emerald dream server. I’m largely kitted up with tier 2 gear now (except the breastplate from nef) and I’m starting to get involved in some of the pvp battlegrounds stuff.
First new is Dawnraiders (my guild) took down Razuvius, first boss in Naxx. This is an amazing achievement and we’re only the third guild on that server to achieve this. I’m proud to say I was there for the kill and must admit I was surprised when he died – easy when you know how and all that.
Second is the arrival of 1.12 – “the drums of war”. This will be simply awesome for me since I’ve been trying to get into pvp a bit more and the share battlegrounds and world pvp objectives will keep me occupied in my spare time.
Happy to say I’m still enjoying the game. Feel free to look at some of the videos I’ve recorded too.

Sexism is rife! Where’s the blokes calendar?
Seriously though I’m not sure what this does for Lasses in IT apart from saying in a 1950s way you can work and be glamorous (and a mother, wife, ... )
Gonna look at the calendar and make up my own mind tho – ahem.
Getting a comfortable nights sleep

Some good ideas here for those without air con. I also note that I got a Challenge Cooler from Argos yesterday that takes the approach of have a towel like material in a body of water and blowing the air through it. It provides two freezer blocks you can stick in the freezer and then pop in the water to cool the air being blowing around.

Popped some photos of my niece’s christening up in the gallery. Mail me if you want to see them tho as I’ve protected the gallery from prying eyes.

dead man's chest
Went to see the second pirates film last night. Awesome! It’s a superb film. Lots of buckles being swashed, monsters, cursed sailors, pretty good story line and most of your old favourites not to mention a new meanie.
thoroughly enjoyed.
